Sterling to Install Power Substation at 3100 Ft-Level at Sunshine Mine

 Wallace, Idaho - February 20, 2007 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Sterling Mining Company (OTCBB: SRLM) today reported that it has scheduled the re-installation of power to the Sunshine Mine's 3100 foot level and the construction of a power substation there. Work is scheduled to begin in February with the excavation of the substation room and a 50 ft ventilation drift.

"Our crews have completed restoration of electrical power to the 1700 level pump room and the 2500 level," said Mike McLean, Mine Manager.

Progress continues on several fronts simultaneously at the Sunshine Mine:
  • advancing the Sterling Tunnel;
  • exploration drilling of Upper Country zones from Sterling Tunnel;
  • driving a new exploration cross-cut from the Polaris 1000 level;
  • equipment renovations at the mill;
  • rehabilitation of the Silver Summit hoist with structural testing now complete
Sterling Mining Co. currently forecasts restoring production at the Sunshine Mine in December 2007.
