| | January 18, 2008 Sterling Mining to Exhibit at Vancouver Resource Investment Conference

| | Wallace, Idaho -- January 18 , 2008 -- (Marketwire) -- Sterling Mining Company (TSX: SMQ / OTCBB: SRLM / FSE: SMX) today announced that it will exhibit at the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference on January 20th and 21st, 2008, in Vancouver, British Columbia, organized by Cambridge House International.
The Conference will take place at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre and features workshops, speakers, and exhibitors. Exhibits will open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20th, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 21st.
Conference participants are invited to visit Sterling Mining Company at Booth 1800, where Management will discuss the re-commissioning of the Sunshine Mine for initial silver production that began December 2007, and its plans to achieve full, long-term sustainable production levels over the next three years.

Looking beyond the Conference in Vancouver, Sterling will commemorate the Sunshine Mine achievement in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration in March, 2008, details to be finalized; the Company will, for the first time, exhibit at the PDAC in Toronto on March 2nd through 5th.
